West Ash Community Compost

What started as a passion project for Sandbothe, a sustainability enthusiast, back in 2024, has grown into a community-wide effort to reduce food waste and methane emissions from the local landfill. From just a handful of friends and coworkers participating, the program has grown to a momentous (insert number) members (last updated Fall 2026) who have integrated this sustainable choice into their lifestyles and households. Collecting all food scraps in lent-out reusable containers, Mary turns the compost in her own backyard, in bins she and her partner built together. As of Fall 2026, the program has saved (insert number) lbs of food waste from the landfill. The goal is to continue protecting and preserving our environment, starting with what we can do for our local ecosystems. Sandbothe hosts monthly compost clubs where members can help her process compost, and she sends out regular newsletters featuring exciting updates and important composting information.
